paint tool sai/wolf shading help

hey guys, im a little stuck with how to going around shading this wolf, it must be realistic shading, i want this silly thing to look as real as possible.
heres a screen cap with the layer too, hopefully this will help.
i also wouldnt mind a quick sketch of you shading the piece its self if you think that would help.

I'm no expert when it comes to SAI, but you could try using the Paper tool? If it's set to bristle, it sort of resembles fur. it's most effective when multiplied and you'll need a new layer for every new color, but you can also use it as is. Just be sure to have it set to these settings:

do you also have any advice on how the shading should look? ive always kind of struggled with the fur on their necks...

I recommend looking around dA for brush packs. There's tons with fur textures.

As well, it would be helpful if you decided on a light source before shading, and it would make it a little easier for others to give you a quick shading mock-up if they so chose.
