Price ☆ Check !~
«: May 21, 2011, 10:04:55 AM»
I currently have my ports around 4GD-5GD joints would be doubled the price and I was wondering if I was pricing to low or to high for my ports, since they ain't all that good.

I also do character art too, that's currently 3GD, am I pricing it to low or too high again?

I am not really any good with art, though, I do try to pass on advice to others.

I feel that your art for 3GD, if selling examples like the above which you posted, then I feel it's great, maybe 3 to 5GD per photoshopped art by yourself, and I can see you getting alot of customers, myself included. I also really like the style in which you draw, and your shading techniques aren't bad, so I don't see why 3GD per portrait from you, would be a bad price, and, I also predict alot more buyers if you sell your portraits at that price for awhile, if you do, decide to set your prices to what I have suggested, I can guarantee I will be coming to commission you! A cute style is fine, but your shading and anatomy leave a lot to be desired. I'm not gonna comment on the anime qualities, but that remap canine (wolf?) port on the far left looks like well... honestly, a 5 year old drew it. It's absolutely squashed, way to pointy, the muzzle is too square, the neck fluff is too fluffy (I'll let that and the tail slide if that was legit the way the character's creator wanted it done, although it is technically an anatomical nightmare). Your lines are very messy, although you get points for understanding how to narrow down the lines to 1 pixel in width. You are using too much dithering in your shading, it mostly looks like someone brought out the airbrush tool in MS paint and sprays streaks in places. Dithering should not comprise the entirety of shading, rather it is used to help blend lights and shadows. Your non pixel work is better, especially the eyes, but you have no light source and your shading looks mostly like hard rubber. You have potential, so don't give up, but you need to keep practicing.
For now...
1-2 GD/$ for pixel work
2-3 GD/$ non pixel work
I honestly would not pay more than this for your current examples, especially considering that I can get a much more detailed and realistic port for $5 (which I would value more at $10 but lack of funds means most people have to sell their art for less than the expected value).

Please keep in mind pricing threads are exactly that; for pricing only.
