Alert Forum Rules
8 November 2011, 3:04 pm

These are definitions of different types of threads that can be posted and what must take place and be considered before creating a thread in this forum.

  • Scam –noun

    a.    A confidence game or other fraudulent scheme, esp. for making a quick profit; swindle.

    –verb (used with object)

    b.    To cheat or defraud with a scam.
  • A scam as it would apply to us in Furcadia, is when someone intentionally attempts to steal something from you with either some kind of force or deception.

    a.   In order for a scam to have occurred, an exchange must have been made.
  • An attempted scam is when someone tries to scam someone else, but for whatever reason a transaction does not take place.

    a.   Hopefully, because someone was cautious enough to realize what was going on.

    b.   In this case, a warning may need to be posted of suspicious behavior.
  • Suspicious behavior could include, but would not be limited to the following (which may not apply to ALL situations):

    a.   Selling life items for ridiculously low prices (IE: Life classics for $10)

    b.   Selling alts listed by someone else (IE: If Ginnie were to try and sell Turquoise)

    c.   Selling digos that they cannot show you before the sale

    d.   Claiming to be unable to use the secure trading system for whatever reason.

    e.   Please, keep in mind that these are just a few examples of things people have commonly done in the past when attempting to scam someone. These are things you should be wary of, but not always a sure sign of someone trying to scam you, and you should use your best judgment in all situations.
  • If you are making an alert here, you need to contact the Guardians on Furcadia or by e-mail at [email protected].

    a.   You must attempt to actually solve the problem; FAM cannot and will not solve the problems for you.
  • You must have contacted the person you intend to make an alert about before hand or at least made an attempt to.
  • If the incident was not recent, then don't post it. Recent means within the past 3-6 months. Anything beyond that is pushing it, unless you have been actively trying to have the issue resolved with Guardians the whole time.
  • Anyone caught making a false report on another member of the community to satisfy some personal vendetta will be suspended.
  • When making a comment in an alert thread, keep it on topic, relevant, and thoughtful. Off-topic or pointless comments will result in a suspension.
  • Do not post in old threads. - This practice is often called "thread necromancy" and will not be tolerated on the site.

    a. The exception being if it's an old thread that is still active. Check the post date on the last post that belongs to the person who created the original post for the thread. If the last post was a month or more ago, don't post.
  • We DO NOT DELETE THREADS. All threads are kept here for informational purposes.

    a.     Do not edit your thread to delete the information. It WILL be edited back.
  • Flaming will not be tolerated, regardless of the reason.

Log Posting

  • Dragon's Eye Production's Terms of Service does not allow the posting or linking to any private whisper logs, or logs of conversations occurring in private, without the other parties permission.

    a.   Doing so is at your own risk.

    b.   Whisper logs may be removed from the posts without any notice or warning.
  • Do not post rumors or circulate inflammatory remarks about a user simply because of a grudge.

    a.   Any post that is made in bad faith will be removed and action taken against the user posting it.
  • Falsifying logs will not be tolerated.
  • To meet the requirements to post whispers you must ask permission to share the log end explain to the other party or parties involved that it is being shared with the members of Furcadia Alt Market.
