Good drawing program?
«: July 12, 2008, 11:02:29 PM»
Well, I've been using MS Paint for.. like, ever. At the moment all I use is that, and I don't have a tablet :P

I'd like to be able to do more advanced art on the computer, but I'm not sure what the best drawing program to use is.

Any opinions on a good drawing program that's not too expensive and easy to get used to?

OpenCanvas or Painttool SAI. I'd go with the latter, but both require a tablet. @@

because of me right.

yeah, sai and photoshop cs2.
you don't need a tablet for any drawing program, though. people still can draw w/o.

True, but OpenCanvas is specifically made for tablets. The whole thing with pressure sensitivity and all. =p

you still don't need a tablet to fucking draw just because it was meant for tablets doesn't mean you can't draw with it

yeah, despite the fact you don't have pen pressure, you still can taper lines just by erasing.

uh photoshop.. has sensitivity and all that jazz too... and photoshop kicks the shit out of opencanvas anyday.  sure, opencanvas is a great program to use because it's free, but if you have the opportunity to get photoshop for cheap or even for free (my dad works with computer graphics designers so i got my copy from him!) then i'd recommend it any day over opencanvas.

uhh...I never said you couldn't. You don't need to get all pissy over the fact that I said a tablet is preferred. srsly dramz.

and yeah, Photoshop is amazing. OpenCanvas 1 is simple and free, but versions like 3.5 have more things added to it. SAI is my favorite. It's smooth and easy to get a feel of.

oC 4. I do all my shit with that, and you don't need a tablet from what I see of other people's art done with it. And it's better than oC 1 in my opinion. ):
