ref sheet pricing/crit
«: July 13, 2008, 09:12:50 PM»
so i want to sell ref sheets, they're really fun to make.

this one took me a little under 10 hours, to the buyer i can give a nice png version with a white bg
and also a .gif version with a transparent bg, but ill just show the .png ver.

these take a considerable amount of work, and i was wondering if i could take commissions for them and ACTUALLY make a profit.

they will include:
-1 naked pose to show marking and physique. PG, obv. ken men and barbie girls.
-1 clothed pose
-flatcoloring
-basic color palette
-and other small things, if you feel the need. accessories drawn and listed on the sides, etc

this sheet is specifically for a nonremap char. i MIGHT be willing to add to MORE copies of the poses to show the remaps.

poses, like this one, may be referenced from posemaniacs.com

tl;dr crit & price prz!!

wow, a laptop pad?! that must take so much patience.

anyways, I absolutely love the anatomy and the pose with the gun and all. very very cool.

my only crit that I can think of right now is that the teeth look a bit too silver, unless they were meant to be that way. not trying to be rude, but they kind of look like a 'grill' right now because of the shading on them. not that shading is bad! but I think on teeth you don't need so much. and please excuse this if that's the look you were aiming for. <3

for background ideas... how about a city silhouette? I've always thought those backgrounds were neat for cool, modern looking characters even though they're sort of common. If I think of any more ideas I'll post them.

as port prices, with background I think 10-15 would be reasonable, personally, since your ones without backgrounds go for about 4-7?

can you explain why you think so? i'm not denying that that would be what's it's worth, but i'd like your opinion too. and i pressed enter too soon. i WAS thinking around 5, but is there anything that you particularly like/dislike about the port? :O

not trying to be rude, but they kind of look like a 'grill' right now because of the shading on them.

LOL FURRY IN THE GHETTOOO. but you're right, i didn't really notice. i'll fix that now.

also the city is a good idea.. i will contemplate.

hey sugar!!

so i did a little redlining. all in all, the lineart is pretty good. love the shading, esp considering you did it with a laptop pad.

okay, so. one think i noticed that ive seen in quite a few of your ports is that you dont center the head. see how one shoulder is a bit wider than the other? unless his entire body is turned to the side, his shoulders should be about the same width. so scoot the neck/head over just a tad and that will be much better. :3

the lower jaw is jutting out too far. it looks like he has a bit of an underbite. just tuck that in a little and it'll be fine!
as for the teeth, i can show you a way to shade them if you like. message me on aim if you do/want to talk~~

the eyes look a bit...... crooked? try moving the far one down a pixel and see how that looks.

also, the fingers appear to be all the same length. middle finger is longest and the rest should get shorter as they get farther out. on the port it looks like all four are the same length. (lol sorry i got kinda repetitive right there)

the part of the gun that's around the trigger looks a touch too thick.

the um. jawline is a bit too low. bump it up a few pixels. <3

IIIIIIIIII think thats it...

as for price......... personally, i think once you fix some of the mistakes this will sell for a good 7GD. i love your ports a lot a lot, theres just a few things you need work on. :3

HOLY SHIT THAT IS ONE DELICIOUS CANINEMAN.

uh i've considered doing ref sheets before but to be honest, they're too much work for me LOL. i suggest if you do take ref commissions to be careful about how many commissions you take at a time.

great ref sheet, sexy char, i'd prolly pay a good 20$ for one of these.

then again, im a cheapskate.
