What makes a picture "Yiffy"?
«: January 21, 2008, 05:30:59 PM»
Food for thought. I don't really want to ask about whether yiffy art is art or anything.

What I do want to ask is, what do you think makes art yiffy?
More specifically, is it just the nudity? With some positions and gestures, a picture can be extremely sexually charged, without showing the most important parts of flesh. ( ;) ) But lots of nudes can be very plain (anyone who's taken a life drawing class can tell you.)
So, is it the skin, is it the additude, is it the touching, is it the content or is it the themes or is it a mixture?
Where is the line between pin-up and hard-core?
---I apologize---

Well... I've always translated yiff to basically 'furre sexual intercourse', so...

I think that the actual act of intercourse in the picture makes the art yiffy. Along with this, I think that 'naughty bits' are required or hinted for it to be yiffy, otherwise it's just suggestive.

PERSONALLY
I do not recognize yiff or any of it's derivatives as part of the hu-man language.

if it's two animal-people having sex, then it's two animal-people having sex.
YIFF IS A RETARDED THING TO SAY
FURRY IS A RETARDED THING TO SAY

also, for further discourse on what to call this shit i draw, etc.
i am not a "furry artist" or an "anthro artist"
personally, i am not an artist in the typical sense of the word.
i draw pictures
i draw animal people pictures
occasionally
i draw them touching each others boobs
deal with it

who the fuck cares.

Goldie stop owning us. D:

Imo, I would think a yiffy picture would be exactly what the definition is.

I care because the law says I can be held responsible if I let you post it on my website and show it to minors.

Though you can probably bet 'Yiff' will be added to the dictionayr sooner or later. Like how all common used words are (like Ginormous).

I dont think of it as sexual poses, unless the poses are extremely suggestive and bare/showing + with a partner in the picture.
Pretty much intercourse is what 'Yiff' is to me; since its escestially used the same way as 'sex' is.

"Personally I consider myself a furry, I have an online persona of myself with ears and a fox tail, I am male, I'm straight, I don't draw a lot of furry art because I'm not that good at it, I don't write stories for the same reason. I do read other peoples' stories and look at their art, I have no sexual interest in actual animals (see zoophiles and bestiality folks)
I go to college, and have a job, I'm not fat either.
I'm just a furry
*wags his tail happily*
And any furry-hater who doesn't like me because of it, too bad, it's who I am."

lololol

off topic, yes.
but.
yeah.
alluding to the topic now.. any picture that depicts sexually suggestive anthropomorphized animals are "yiffy." any "furry" image really that consists of nudity is yiffy.
that is the end.
i could care no less or more about debating whether a picture is or isn't yiffy.

this is like asking someone whether or not they like abstract art. it's really how you interpret what you see.

like.
someone who hates "furries" might think that all pictures of them naked be yiff-faggotry.
others who enjoy it might defend it and call it an expressive work of art.

YOU'RE ALL WRONG

the more furniture in the picture, the more yiffy it becomes.
Rofl. Determining if a picture is "yiffy" is the same as trying to determine if a picture is tasteful nudity or pornographic.

Lmao at both those links.

As to what makes an artwork yiffy, I think it would include anything suggestive too - because according to the "definitions" via that crazy dictionary link, it's also the feeling (like being furry-horny) and I'd think a suggestive work would fall into feelings more than action (although action should obviously be considered yiffy). So yeah.

What a freakin weird term, I feel all icky inside talking about it.
