The Rip-Roaring 20s
«: December 04, 2008, 03:54:58 PM»
How does everyone feel about them?

I'm talking about jazz, speak-easies, mobs,
booze, the charleston shuffle, flappers and flyboys.

Now how would you feel about roleplaying
in a dream like that? Think anyone would?

Help me out here, guys!

Really? I loved that book.

I'd RP in a dream like that if I RPd. It seems like something fun and unique... Rather than overdone anime and medieval dreams.

people already do that they just stick them in tgt with the rest of the masses of unfit characters (for the settings, at least).
maybe a dream will be good for those people..

Never really was a big fan of the book.

But!

I do love Chicago, The Cat's Meow,
and other movies and especially
the style of that era. It's jazzy.

Thanks, everyone! :]

Lackadaisy! :U

In other news, 20's = massive bags of win. Especially swing and flappers and all that good stuff.

Which reminds me!

Would anyone be able to make some flapper and flyboy avatars?
And maybe some burlesque dances and and males in zoot suits?

We can haggle over a price, seeing as how I've never comissioned an avatar. :p

the 20s era is turning into one of those cliche kool kid rp environments lately

especially the mobsters/gangsters scene

it's rather annoying

plus, personally i couldn't care less.  the 20s to me means tightwad christian-oriented white communities oppressing everyone else and the government lies to them as they openly and freely abuse their wives.

retro-ism just isn't that appealing when you're talking about an era where ignorance reigned supreme

although i imagine if done right, like anything else, it could be somewhat interesting, so good luck with that

My husband's addicted to House.
And for that, I HATE it. :D
diseased dyke, lol.

And, yeah, it probably is becoming popular, but not the idea
I have for this place. And if we keep true to the times and
don't let an "undesirables" in, the place should be hoppin'.

Hahah, jk. House isn't horrible, but I can't really
get into it like I used a year or so ago.
Maybe because I'm a Grey's Anatomy-ite. :(

grey's anatomy is basically the same show with melodrama sprinkled generously on top.  house is clearly superior, even if a bit formulaic.

also, even if there is already a 1920s dream being made, I'd go ahead with making my own if I were really dedicated to it.

lord knows there's 5 billion slave/pokemon/KH/dogs/whatever theme dreams.

Yeah... that and I have a thing for Mark. Mmmmm.

I'm still going to go through with it. I've been toying
around with the idea for a little over three months now.
I'd just like to see what someone else might have
come up with, so I could do the complete opposite.
I HATE themes that are overdone and so worn out,
which is why I'd love to give everyone something
refreshing to the eyes and scene. I'm planning
on giving this project the works. :]

I think you'd might want to move the Time Warp adjuster a bit further forward--a 1940ish slice of a metropolis with liberal applications of Art Deco stylizations (and plenty of chrome and Bakelite, to honest.) Could even play with the theme, sliding into retro sci-fi, too.
Swords: A greatsword is not a one-handed weapon. A greatsword is not fast. If it is fast, it means it's made of paper mache' and will break upon striking anything.

Randomat twirls two greatswords, one in each hand.
GM: Randomat's hands fall off.
