how should i price my ports?
«: February 18, 2008, 05:42:13 PM»

they're all a little old except for the anthro, and i've
already improved alot on that.
but the anthro's shading is pretty much what i do now.
i currently have them priced at 1 gd with no luck.
should i keep that price?
or just practice until i get art someone may be interested in buying?
i don't care if your blunt,
but if you say it sucks, please have reason behind your opinion. (:

...I don't think you suck. o_o

Imo, up your prices a bit. c: That first port I've always liked, and I'd personally think it'd be at least 3-5GD. A tad more shading on the white I suppose, but yeah. c:

And the rest of them are 3GDish as well. Right now I can't think to save my life, I'll edit this with crits later.

what mina said.

it looks like you've got a good hold on anatomy. (:
and as critique, i would make the hair less.. static if you know what i mean. the very large, prominent spikes of hair.. for example in the second on the top row of ports and the anthro port.

thanks guyss. #SO
i don't like the spiky hair on the second feral
from the left.
my ferals mostly look like the last puppyish one on the right.
yeahh. my hair is blech.
I'll try out some new styles later.
but should I really up the price if i'm getting no
business when they're currently at 1 gd?

i'm shocked no one is interested.
1 gd is really cheap especially considering the fact that some people will pay 3 gds for a crap port.

if i were you, i'd keep it at your current price and see what business you get. if people become interested, try raising the price by a gd or so. never raise by a drastic amount. :]

Yeah, 3-5 GDS sounds good.
Remember to practice endlessly and passively advertise like mad. Make yourself a little site with all the information about prices, contacts and samples anyone might ask for; link it in your desc(s). Make portraits for yourself and wear them frequently. Make yourself a board signature or even a little banner, linking to your commission site.
This allows people to check you out without being active about it. It works very well, considering the amount of people who explore links (especially art ones), and the amount that would rather quietly have a look at something than have to ask you about it; and if they are interested, you will get a contact.
Or at least, to my experience. oo;  Maybe you've done all this and it's just not quite that bustling yet. Patience is always good, too.

Start free, then when you get better at ports, do 1-5 gds.

If you want the truth: As long as it's feral, you can charge anywhere between 0 to 20GD.

From experience I can say ferals are willing to buy almost any premade.

Hmmm. Your samples puzzle me some. Are they being displayed in chronological order?
yeah. they are. (:
all those furthest to the left
are the oldest, and they get newer
as they come to the right.
